Gareth Turnbull-Jones Head Teacher Landmark International School Cambridge

Gareth Turnbull-Jones, Head Teacher and Science Teacher

I come to Landmark as an international educator with over a decade of experience working in international schools in Lusaka, Zambia and London, UK, eight years of experience working for the International Baccalaureate, a contributing author of the Science for the International Student textbook series and a regular contributor to international education conferences and publications, particularly in the area of student wellbeing.

Prior to a career in international education. I worked in state education systems in the UK, Tanzania and Rwanda. Whilst working in Sub-Saharan Africa I worked for and alongside NGO’s to develop school resources, computer rooms, youth centres and libraries for communities in need. This experience taught me that we are all global citizens who are interconnected and it is vital that we develop a human centred education, which is compassionate and empathetic. These are the values that I find in abundance at Landmark and that I want to continue to develop as Head of the school.

Jenna Fritz International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme Coordinator (PYP) Landmark International School Cambridge

Jenna Fritz, IB Primary Years Programme Coordinator and Robin Class (Year 2) Teacher

Following my dreams to see the world, I embarked on my international teaching career in 2009, after teaching in South London for 2 years. I started in Cambodia, where I was involved in developing International Day celebrations and teaching English in a local orphanage. From there I taught 5 years in a Primary and Secondary School in Bogotá, Colombía. This gave me the opportunity to learn Spanish and work on social projects with displaced refugees in the shanty towns of the city. Here, I gained experience implementing the International Primary Curriculum under my role as the Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 Coordinator. My most recent international post was 4 years in Oman, where I taught across Key Stage 1 and 2.

My unique experience teaching on 4 continents (including a voluntary post in a local Ghanain school in 2004), has taught me the incredible value of the diversity within our world. Seeing how technology and travel has expanded opportunities and created an interconnected, globalised society, has given me an understanding of the importance each one of us has to promote and celebrate our similarities and differences as citizens of the world.

Jo Pulford Data Systems Coordinator Landmark International School Cambridge

Jo Pulford, Data Systems Coordinator, Mathematics Leader and Maths Teacher

Having grown up in Suffolk, Jo completed her Bachelor of Applied Education and Mathematics degree at Oxford Brookes University before moving to Cambridgeshire to start her teaching career.

Jo has taught as a primary class teacher for over twenty five years in a wide range of school settings, teaching pupils across all phases. In addition, she has been able to develop her love of teaching maths by becoming a ‘Leading Maths Teacher’ for Cambridgeshire and then progressed to taking a secondment as a Primary Maths Consultant for the local authority. During that 18 month period, she enjoyed supporting, challenging and inspiring both pupils and teachers across many schools as well as lecturing students at Northampton University. On her return to the classroom she developed her leadership skills further as a deputy head.

Her hobbies include: sewing and embroidery, swimming and pilates. She also loves to spend time with her ‘grown-up’ family and dreams of travelling to New Zealand with them having toured part of Australia several years ago.

Mary is Clerk to the Board of Trustees at Landmark and is also our Career Officer. She completed a degree in English Literature with the Open University.

Penny Roche, Secondary Years Programme Coordinator, Literacy Leader, DSL and English Teacher

Having lived and worked in England, Scotland, France and Australia in various roles, I completed my degree through the Open University and studied for my Postgraduate Diploma in Education in Western Australia. Since then I have worked in state and independent schools, both in Australia and the UK.

Creativity and the power of stories are fundamental to our ability to communicate ourselves to the world, and to understand the world that we live in. My aim is to help build a space where students’ curiosity can be fostered, their horizons broadened, and where ideas are treated with respect. These values are embodied by Landmark, and I am glad to be continuing my journey here, helping with the development of our international learning community.
