Primary School Sport: Building our health and community
One of the aims of our current development plan is to establish extra-curricular links with other schools. This year we have had a focus on finding sporting partnerships with other primary schools so we can play sport together building a healthy lifestyle and connections with the wider community. We have started to play key stage two sporting fixtures with Fulbourn Primary School and have so far had three netball fixtures. Our Key Stage One students recently attended a sports festival at Marleigh Primary School. We are looking forward to more fixtures with Fulbourn Primary School and future sporting festivals for dodge-ball and flag football at Marleigh Primary School.
This blog has two sections a piece by our year three and four class about their netball fixture and the views of one of our year one students who attended the sports festival.
Netball with Fulbourn Primary
We went to Fulbourn Primary School, with Mrs Seabourne, for the match. The netball match was very fun because we were so close to winning but they scored 1 more. It was a draw, 4 all. Our team had 6 people playing. It was easy to play, because Cassie has long arms to score.
“We all got to play different positions after each quarter. Strangely, there were 5 quarters.” explained Josh.
“The netball match was really amazing once you got to see who you were playing against and how good they were.” Soren stated.
Sofia said, “The netball match was good and Cassie scored a lot, she was good.”
Timmy mentioned that, “You play with your hands and can’t move once you get the ball. I really like netball because it is fun and I play with other people.”
Key Stage One Sports Festival at Marleigh Primary School
The key stage one students attended a sports festival at Marleigh Primary School. They played lots of different games. Here are the thoughts of Anna in year one:
We played lots of games. In one game you had to knock a white ball, no one else did it but me! I was proud. I loved every game.
