Head’s Welcome

“A Caring Community, Nurturing Creativity, Inspiring Global Citizens”

Gareth Turnbull-Jones

It is a pleasure to welcome you to the Landmark International School website. Whether you are a prospective, current or past student, staff member, parent or family member we hope you find the website informative and are excited to learn more about our community.

When I first visited Landmark what struck me was the caring ethos, the creative lessons and the global outlook of the students, teachers and parents. It is a testament to the founding team at Landmark that the school exudes such a wonderful atmosphere. After seven years Landmark is flourishing and almost fully subscribed. It is inspiring that the dreams and visions of courageous educators can become reality.

Landmark is a not for profit, co-educational international school that caters for students from reception in primary school to year 11 in secondary school. Landmark is an IB World School and in the primary school (Reception to year 6) we follow the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP) to support our students in understanding the interconnectedness of disciplines and the world around them. In the lower secondary (year 7-9) we teach in disciplines and work closely together to make interdisciplinary connections. We support project and service based learning as a part of the taught curriculum through Global Discussions and STEM lessons. In the upper secondary we continue to develop the whole learner, placing project and service based learning at the forefront of what we do as we prepare our students for the GCSE and IGCSE examinations and for the next steps after Landmark.

Throughout the school we put the student at the centre of their learning. Overall, a Landmark education provides a human-centred approach to learning, ensuring that each individual is nurtured to be self-directed creative thinkers that contribute to making their communities and the world around them a better place.

I am excited to be leading Landmark in the next steps of the school’s journey. If you are a prospective family I hope you want to join us on our journey, being a part of our caring community that nurtures creativity and inspires global citizens as we continue to learn and grow together.

Kind regards

Gareth Turnbull-Jones
