Developing Our Cycling Skills with Bikeability (A Student Blog)

Bikeability is an event in the Landmark International School which is held from 5/19 to 5/20. This event is to improve Eagle class bike skills. This event is very fun because you can ride a bike for 4 hours per day. When we are riding, it feels very refreshing. I think this event is good because we can refresh and when you ride a bike a little bit, you can improve your bike skill.

First thing in the morning, we practiced in the playground. In this session, we practiced riding and turning. We also practiced riding in one hand and seeing behind. For me, riding in one hand was difficult because I couldn’t balance. Next thing after lunch, we went to the road and practiced some skills like U turns and making sure the riding is safe. For me, U turns are harder than I thought. This is because you need to decide to stop or turn when we are trying to turn.

The morning of the following day, we practiced turning on the hill. In this session, I thought it was easy because it was a bit similar to the first day’s afternoon.  Next thing in the afternoon, we practiced at the road which had lots of traffic. I thought it was the most difficult session in this bike ability because it was hard to signal using the hand and it was hard to balance. Through this session, I learned how to ride using one hand and how to watch behind while riding. I thought this session is important because when we can ride on the bike, it helps us to go faster in the land and it also helps to relax.

I think doing Bikeability is important because it will help us know how to be safe on the road while we are riding a bicycle. I prefer to join the future Eagle class. I want to learn these skills next year.
