GCSE Grade Success for an Exceptional Cohort

GCSE Grade Success for an Exceptional Cohort

We would like to congratulate the graduating class of 2020 on their fantastic IGCSE/ GCSE results. This has been a year without precedent, in which the class had the end of their time at Landmark cut short and lost the opportunity to demonstrate their abilities by an examination. However, this year's cohort has always been exceptional: several students in the group had taken a number of examinations early. Before this session our year 11s had already achieved one 9, three 8s and a 6 in Mathematics (the equivalent of four A*s and a B as seen in the table), across the languages (French, German and Latin) had achieved the equivalent of three A*, an A and a B in GCSE history.

Between the past achievement of this specific group, the evidence that these students had produced and our accuracy of past predictions, our teachers under the leadership of Mrs Gibbs and Mrs Elliott were confident in predicting fair grades for our students. As you will be aware these teacher based assessment grades are now being used as the GCSE grades of all students across the country. This year at Landmark our students achieved 100% 5 A*-C, including Maths and English. Two of our students achieved all A*s for the nine GCSEs that they took and two other students achieved ten or more A* to A grades.

We are proud of all of our talented and hard working students that have completed their course and have achieved grades that are reflective of their abilities over the two years of their GCSE studies. We hope that they can take time to celebrate with their families and friends their excellent and well deserved achievements. All of our students are now moving on to the sixth forms of their choice and we wish them success on their journeys- We know they have bright futures ahead.
