World Maths Day 2021

On May 5th Landmark International School celebrated World Maths Day for the first time. We took part in all kinds of amazing activities, from dressing up as mathematicians to competing in Mathletics' international maths competition!

We had a great day full of different maths related sessions  - here's what the children in the primary department thought:

Hannah, Eagle Class

My favourite part of world maths day was dressing up, because I got to dress up as a really, really bad pun. I came into school as 'Square Root' so I had a large square of cardboard, (this symbolised the 'square' in 'square' root) which was painted black with the square root symbol in the middle, which I coloured in sky blue and was attached to an old white shirt with Velcro. I also held a ginger root, which symbolised the 'root' in square 'root'!

In summary, World Maths Day was really fun and I hope we get to do it again next year!

Camilo, Eagle Class

My absolute favorite part of world math's day was the Mathletics Live Competition. This is because I'm a very competitive person and like to take my talents/skills or hobbies to the test. Also, The afternoon team games were really, and I mean REALLY fun! I like being social and most of the afternoon team games involved at least a bit of sociability.

Angelica, Eagle Class

My favourite part of world maths day was the afternoon team game because I got to discuss with my teammates and we even got first place! My second favourite part of the world maths day is completing in the Mathletics Competition, it was so exciting and our school was in the top 30 among the whole world! I really enjoyed competing with my classmates, it wasn’t any serious competition but it’s still really fun and exciting! I really enjoyed world maths day
