Maths Week 2021

Maths Week 2021

This year, Landmark participated in Maths Week England, which ran from 8th-12th  November. The aim behind this special week was to promote a positive image of mathematics and to view it as a beautiful, fun and enjoyable subject. Daily puzzles were given to the students, along with maths stories for younger students and collaborative tasks. Year 7 students finished the week with an exciting maths challenge encouraging them to reason mathematically and to problem-solve using their fluency skills.

In addition, we organised a fun estimation challenge for all the students to participate, from Foundation Stage right through to those in upper key stage three. We had a marvellous response with 63 students participating. Each key stage was given their own task of estimating quantities in containers. In addition, the students in key stages two and three were given additional estimating challenges such as guessing quantities as images, guessing weights of items and for older students, guessing the prices of groceries from three supermarkets.

All those who participated, really put their estimating skills to the test, in the hope of receiving a winner’s prize of a voucher to the value of £5.
