New Forest School Programme for the Whole of Primary
This year we have started a forest school programme for the whole of our primary school. This builds on the forest school work that we have done previously with the key stage one students.
Here is a blog to hear what our year 6 students thought of their first session, there are also some images of Robin class enjoying their sessions.
This week, Eagle class had their first forest school session at Abington Woods. Have a read on to hear what they thought…

"I thought that today was a really great day for fun and education. It's all in the package! We were split into two groups and one group went down to the river to make a transporting water system (shaduf) and the other group went to make a campfire. The part I found the most fun was where we got to go around and do our own stuff!"

"Best school day I’ve ever had. We made fires and an ancient machine for getting water (a shaduf). It was a small but interesting forest. I am looking forward to next time. I think it will involve a lot of cooking on a fire"
Camilo
"Today was a flurry of joy and I'm really thankful that we get to have forest school on Tuesdays (thank you Deborah!). My favourite part of today was setting alight the fire and I'm really looking forward to next time because me and Turner were brainstorming and we've decided to make a hut when we come back!"

"Today we went to forest school. It was great. First we toured the grounds, we looked at the river then the area which we couldn't go. We were being taught by someone called Deborah. We made a fire and cooked nettle"

"This day made me feel happy because it was nice to get away from a normal school day. We made a shaduf (lever machine to collect water). I enjoyed making the shaduf. We also made a fire which was fun. I definitely can’t wait to do it again. I’m looking forward to making bread on the campfire"

"Today was great fun and I can't wait to go again! We made a shaduf to catch the water and then we made a fire! We cooked nettles which were actually very nice. We also boil some water that we got from the shaduf"
