Spring Term Newsletter 2025-2026

Dear Members of the Landmark Community

The Spring holiday season is here. We hope you are looking forward to some joyful and relaxing times with family and friends. Here at Landmark we have enjoyed another busy and successful term. Reflecting on the term it has really showcased our communities development of the ten IB Learner Profile Attributes. Here is a summary of the learning and opportunities that have taken place over the last term and the attributes being developed.

Risk-taking communicators

An absolute highlight of this term has been listening to the primary school prepare for their performance of Whiz Wham Alakazam. This culminated in the fabulous performance to parents on the final Friday of the term. Students developed their communication skills and many stepped out of their comfort zone to perform in front of an audience. Some students supported the communication of the performance through helping with the back drop and programme. We are so proud of all their achievements.

Caring and Balanced

Our students had an opportunity to learn about being balanced and how to care for their mental health during Children's Mental Health Week. Students and staff were involved in a range of activities from a poetry workshop with PoetsIn to a student and teacher bike ride; all designed to raise awareness about mental health and well-being, while fundraising £585 for our chosen charities: UNICEF, Blue Smile, and Alzheimer's Society, as well as supporting the Student Council’s initiatives.

Principled and Open Minded

We have continued to develop an understanding of inclusivity in sport by sending groups of students to the incredible Power House Games initiative and had the honour of being invited to the 100th event. This is a great opportunity for our students to be open minded, stay active, and to learn about the benefits of inclusivity.

This complements the opportunities our students are having to be principled in representing our school. Whether in sports fixtures with Fulbourn Primary and the Waldorf school or at events like the diplomacy conference at Abbey College, where our students explored global issues, negotiation, and leadership with students from other schools from across Europe.

Knowledgeable inquirers

Through an array of trips students have had plenty of opportunities to explore deeper into their units of inquiry and contextualise the knowledge that they are learning in the classroom. This term students have had the opportunity to learn about the science of music, medicine and anatomy at the Whipple museum; be wowed at the ‘It’s a gas’ lecture at the University of Cambridge; experience artistic expression at the Fitzwilliam; inquire into religion at The Church of Our Lady of The Assumption and The English Martyr and Ely Cathedral; get close up to the architecture of bridges on the punts of Cambridge and bring their sustainable fashion learning to life by visiting a charity shop.

Reflective thinkers

To celebrate our creative thinking we had our fantastic World Book Day in which the community came together and dressed in graphic novel themes. We had a great whole school assembly during which students and staff shared their reflections on the book that inspired them to read. During the day students trained like superheroes on our outdoor obstacle course, explored ‘science superpowers’ by using magnifying glasses to harness the sun’s energy, created cosmic inspired crafts and made Dogman biscuits which will be sold to raise money for the charity Canine Concern.

It has been a fantastic term and as always, we are grateful to you for entrusting your children to us and for being such valued contributors to our school community. We wish you a wonderful holiday and very much look forward to welcoming your children back to school on Wednesday, April 15th for another term packed full of learning and fun.

With very warm regards

Gareth and the Landmark team
