World Book Day Year 6 Student Blog

The day started with my class entering our classroom and reading our books on our own. I was reading an Italian comic book called: Le Aventure Di Topolino. While I was reading a very interesting part about a super duck saving a super duck woman, Molly’s mum enters our classroom and begins to read us a story. Then, Toucan Class and our class ( Eagle Class) went into Kingfisher’s  Class for the mystery book swap and I got a book that I really like. The book is about nature but it also has a lot of funny jokes in it( I started reading it straight away and I’m nearly finished.)

The students dressed potatoes as characters from books, Obelix was the winner of the competition.

There was lots of competition, including Paddington Bear made out of a potato.

After the book swap, we went into the hall and the whole school was there. Mrs. Roche, the  English teacher of the senior, Talked us about world book day and how we raise over one thousand pounds in the read for good readathon. In the meantime, Mrs. Bordoli-Marsh told us who won the best potato dress up and the best character dress up. I had made a behind the scenes of Harry Potter with my twin sister Miriam out of potatoes and hot glue but we didn’t win. I also dressed up as Luna Lovegood from Harry Potter but I was unlucky and I didn’t win anything, which is still fine because I won last year. At the end of the assembly, Sophie Hannah, a famous author, cut the ribbon for our new, now fixed small junior library that the P.T.As had worked on for three months.

When the first assembly had finished, it was break time and as a treat, the teachers gave us a cookie each. It was super delicious. After break time, we had the second assembly and the teachers partnered us up with a younger student or an older student. I was partnered up with an older and younger student. My partners were: Alice and Juliana. The teachers gave us options of what to do, there were lots and these are some of them: buddy reading, library scavenger hunt, colouring in, name that story and much more.  Me and my partners did the name that story first and then the library scavenger hunt. It was very hard so we did it for the rest of the day.

Sadly it was the end of world book day because the seniors had to go to lessons and the juniors ( us ) were about to have lunch. Before the juniors went to lunch we had a picture of all of the people who dressed up. I  did an awesome pose for the camera. I really liked doing all these fun activities but I was also very hungry so Eagle Class fixed the tables and that’s when world book day ended. I hope that the next book day comes around very quickly because I enjoyed this one 100%.
